Wow, that really good. You could feel the heartbreak and loneliness. And wonder what did happen to Caine if he never came back. Great story.

A ten-Kleenex story. Easier to picture an elder Peter now that we have seen him older, w/ Gray/graying hair. So sad. So alone. Your descriptions, like usual, are so perfect. A good read. (Humorously, I was thinking no, he landed up north at a ranch called Heartland.)
